James Marshall Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. Despite a limited mainstream exposure of four years, he is widely considered one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most important musicians of the 20th century.Inspired musically by American rock and roll and electric blues, following his initial success in Europe with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, he achieved fame in the US after his 1967 performance at the Monterey Pop Festival. Later, he headlined the Woodstock Festival in 1969 and the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970, before dying from drug-related asphyxia at the age of 27. Woodstock is a live album by Jimi Hendrix released posthumously on August 20, 1994. The album is an edited recording of Hendrix's performance with his band Gypsy Sun and Rainbows at Woodstock Festival, Bethel, New York on August 18, 1969. A more-complete version of the concert would be released in 1999 as Live at Woodstock, albeit with some of the performers mixed out. Villanova Junction is track 11 on this album
